ICG's Academic Advisory Board members have taught and researched at universities such as the Australian National University, Harvard University, LMU Munich, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Sydney, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego.

 

Academic Advisory Board members have advised numerous public agencies such as the Brookings Institution, the European Commission, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the OECD, and World Bank. Advisory Board members have also served in consulting firms such as the Boston Consulting Group and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Member Biographies

 

Mr. Louis E. Alexander

 

Mr. Alexander has been with MIT in a variety of capacities for 30 years. He currently serves as the Director of Alumni Education. In 2003, he was named an honorary alumnus of MIT.  Mr. Alexander's is a frequent contributor to CASE and other associations.  He holds a B.A. degree from the Pennsylvania State University where he concentrated in philosophy and comparative religions. After his first year of graduate studies at Union Theological and Columbia University, he enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music where he completed a M.M. degree in musicology and piano.

 

 

Mr. Nicholas G. Bova, Jr.

 

Mr. Bova serves as a General Manager with Junctions Solutions. Previously, he served as a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Andersen Consulting, and he held the position of Vice President of Supply Chain Planning and Logistics with Campbell Soup North America.  Mr. Bova holds the following certifications; CPIM (Certificate in Production and Inventory Management), CDP (Certified Data Processor), Certified Systems Integrator, and Microsoft Certified Professional (.Net Applications Development).  Mr. Bova holds a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Missouri. He also completed coursework towards a Ph.D. in Business Information Systems at Georgia State University.

 

 

Ms. Laurel Bright

Dr. Stephanie Busch

 

Dr. Busch serves as Director of Human Resources at Open Business Club / Xing. Her professional background is in financial services, most recently as a financial management consultant with the Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt.  Dr. Busch holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Business Economics from the Freie Universität Berlin, where she completed her Ph.D. dissertation as a fellow of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes.

 

 

Ms. Angela Chapman

 

Ms. Chapman serves as Director of Endowment & Institutional Development in the Development Office at the National University of Singapore.  Previously, she managed development and alumni relations programs at UNSW Asia in Singapore, at the Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney, and at the Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada as well as in Hong Kong.  Ms. Chapman received a B.A. with first class honors from McGill University and holds a MBA from Laval University.

 

 

Prof. Bruce Chapman

 

Prof. Chapman serves as the Director of the Centre for Economic Policy Research at the Australian National University.  Previously, he lectured and conducted research at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, Curtin University, and the Brookings Institution.  He has published more than 90 articles on labor economics, the economics of education, and industrial relations.  In addition, he served as a consultant to the Australian Prime Minister and the Federal Minister for Employment, Education and Training.  Prof. Chapman holds a B.A. in economics with first class Honours from the Australian National University and a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.

 

 

Prof. Russell Cummings

 

Prof. Cummings teaches aeronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy.   In addition to having served as department chair at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, he has been a visiting scholar at Oxford University.  He has been closely involved in a $ 225 million fundraising campaign at Cal Poly, chaired numerous committees, and has published more than 50 articles. He has also worked at Boeing, NASA, and Hughes Aircraft Company.  Prof. Cummings holds a B.S. and M. Engr. in Aeronautical Engineering as well as a B.A. in Music from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, as well as a Ph.D. and an E.A.E in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California.

 

 

Prof. Paul H. Davis

 

Prof. Davis teaches physical chemistry at Pacific Lutheran University. Previously, he taught chemistry at Santa Clara University and UC San Diego, and served as a research fellow at UC Santa Cruz.  He has been involved in a number of academic and student committees at the University of Tennessee, Stanford University, and Santa Clara University.  Prof. Davis graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Chemistry and received a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from Stanford University.

 

 

Prof. Rui de Figueiredo, Jr.

 

Prof. de Figueiredo teaches business management and public policy at UC Berkeley. He serves as a member of numerous academic committees.  He currently advises a leading investment bank on portfolio management for a number of multi-billion dollar university endowments.  Previously, he served as a strategy consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Melbourne and he was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. He has published more than 20 articles.  Prof. de Figueiredo graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in History. He also holds a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Political Science, as well as a M.A. in Economics from Stanford University.

 

 

Prof. Claudius Gellert

 

Prof. Gellert has held academic appointments at Cambridge, Florence, Halle-Wittenberg, Harvard, Humboldt, Klagenfurt, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, and Reading Universities.  He has been involved with many educational and policy organizations, including the German Academic Exchange Service, the OECD, the Wissenschaftsrat, the BMBF, the European Union's Commission on Higher Education Systems, and the World Bank.  Prof. Gellert obtained an M.A. in Sociology, Philosophy, and Psychology from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, a Ph.D. in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, and his Habilitation from the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.

 

 

Dr. Francine Gordon

 

Dr. Gordon currently works as an Effectiveness Coach.   Previously, she taught organizational behavior at Stanford University and consulted for the Boston Consulting Group. She also worked as Director of Human Resources and Marketing in Silicon Valley companies.  She has advised academic and administrative units at Stanford University and the University of California.  Dr. Gordon graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology from Vassar College and holds a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Yale University.

 

 

Dr. Rainer Haarbusch

 

Dr. Haarbusch serves in the Strategy Division of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.  Previously, he taught linguistics at Sydney University while serving the German Academic Exchange Service in Australia as head of the Information Centre in Sydney.   He also represented the German Academic Exchange Service in Ghana, and served as the Director of the Career Service at the Universität Bayreuth.  Dr. Haarbusch obtained a Ph.D. in Linguistics and an M.A. in Intercultural German Studies and History from the Universität Bayreuth.

 

 

Dr. Ulrike B. Hillemann-Delaney

 

Dr. Hillemann-Delaney serves as an International Officer with Imperial College London.  She has extensive research experience, including service with the German UNESCO Commission, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Eastern Europe Institute in Munich.  Dr. Hillemann holds a M.A. in History and Intercultural Communication from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and a Ph.D. in History at the University of Cambridge.  She also studied History at the University of Edinburgh and Linguistics at the University of Linguistics at Moscow.

 

 

Prof. Erich Leitner

 

Prof. Leitner teaches Education at Klagenfurt University.  Previously, he held visiting and research appointments at the University of London, the Universitá degli Studi di Udine, the Universität Halle-Wittenberg, and the Technische Universität Graz.  He has published extensively on a wide range of educational issues and currently edits two series on education. He also has been involved with accreditation and degree track development issues and organizations.  Prof. Leitner studied German, History, Education, and Philosophy at Graz University from which he obtained a M.A. and a Ph.D.   In addition, he received a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Universität Bayreuth and his Habilitation from Klagenfurt University.

 

 

Dr. Emily O'Brien Maniscalco

 

Dr. Maniscalco serves as an Account Manger with F.A. Bernett Books, focusing on libraries.  Previously, she worked as Coordinator for Information Systems Program and Research Management at Northeastern University's Graduate Schools of Engineering, and as an Assistant to the CEO at Oxford University's European Humanities Research Centre.  She holds a D.Phil. in Modern History from Oxford University and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Wellesley College.   Dr. Maniscalco served for four years as Junior Dean at St. Hugh's College, Oxford.

 

 

Dr. Philip McLauchlan


Dr. McLauchlan is the co-founder of Imagineer Systems, located in greater London, and currently serves as the Director of Imaging Technology at an Imagineer Systems spin-off, MirriAd.  Previously, he taught computing science as well as vision, speech, and signal processing at the University of Surrey.  In addition, he spent six years as a senior researcher at Oxford University and UC Berkeley.  Dr. McLauchlan holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Cambridge University, a M.Sc. in Computing Science from Edinburgh University, and a Ph.D. in AI Vision Research from Sheffield University.

 

 

Mr. Dirk Radzinski

 

Mr. Radzinski is responsible for research and innovation transfer at the Humboldt Universität Berlin.   Previously, he worked as an attorney with Travers Smith White & Case, and served as managing director and founder of a Berlin-based start-up company in the service industry sector.  He currently serves as a member of the German federal government's Innovation Committee.  Mr. Radzinski holds a law degree and the equivalent of a bachelor in business administration from the Freie Universität Berlin, as well as a LL.M. from the University of Cape Town.

 

 

Prof. Sheldon Rothblatt

 

Prof. Sheldon Rothblatt is Professor emeritus at UC Berkeley where he served as Chair of the Department of History, Dean of the Division of Freshman and Sophomore Studies, and as Director of the Center for Studies in Higher Education.  In addition, he served as the STINT Professor of History at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and held visiting professorships at Monash University, New York University, Stanford University and the University of Vienna.  In addition, Prof. Rothblatt has been awarded numerous fellowships and he serves or has served on boards such as the Association of American Colleges and Universities.  Prof. Rothblatt has published extensively on the history of universities in relation to society and culture, the history of campus planning and architecture, urban culture, intellectuals, scientists and professions and the history of liberal learning in the US, Britain and Continental Europe.  Prof. Rothblatt obtained a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in History from UC Berkeley, and also studied at King's College, Cambridge.

 

 

Dr. Maximillian Senges

 

Dr. Senges is a knowledge entrepreneur with a focus on Internet community and technology issues.   He has broad, international project experience with academic, governmental, and private organizations, centering on knowledge management, e-learning, communities, and IT governance.  He is involved in a number of associations, including the Internet Society (ISOC) and the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). Dr. Senges holds a Ph.D. and a Master's Degree in the Information and Knowledge Society Program from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Barcelona, as well as a Diplom in Wirtschaftsinformatik from the Fachhochschule Wildau in Berlin.

 

 

 

Mr. Andrew Shaindlin

 

Mr. Shaindlin is serving as the Executive Director of the Caltech Alumni Association at the California Institute of Technology.  He previously worked at Brown University and the University of Michigan.  Involved with CASE since 1989, he currently serves as Chair of the Commission on Alumni Relations and as CASE Trustee. He runs the widely read blog www.alumnifutures.com.  Andy holds a B.A. from Brown University, and is currently pursuing a part-time Master's degree in education at Claremont Graduate University.

 

 

Prof. John-Raphael Staude

 

Prof. Staude teaches History and Humanities at the College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University as well as at the Osher Institute at the University of California at San Diego.  Previously, he taught Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology at Oxford University, Duke University, Potsdam University, Univerzita Karlova in Prague, and Washington University in St. Louis.  His main research interest is centered on models of adult development and successful aging, as well as lifelong learning.  He has published and edited five books and numerous articles.  Prof. Staude earned a B.A. in Political Science from Georgetown University and a M.A. in History from the Claremont Graduate School.  He also holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Psychology and Higher Education from the Wright Institute in Berkeley.  He also trained at the Universities of Heidelberg, Munich, and Paris as well as the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich.

 

 

Prof. Wilhelm Vossenkuhl


Prof. Vossenkuhl teaches Philosophy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, where he has served as Pro-Rector, Senator, Dean, and Department Chair.  Previously, he taught and researched at the Universität Bayreuth and Cambridge University.  He has been involved with many educational organizations and foundations, including the Max-Planck Society, the Hochschulrektorenkonferenz, ACQUIN, the Deutscher Bildungsrat, and the boards of universities at Regensburg, Kassel, and Bayreuth.  Prof. Vossenkuhl obtained a Ph.D. as well as his Habilitation in Philosophy, History, and Political Science from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.

 

 

Mr. Patrick Zielinski

 

Mr. Zielinski currently serves as a partner in the law firm of Quirling, Eisenmann, and Zielinski.  Previously, he co-founded 3w, an award-winning German Internet company specializing in art-related products, as well as infoline Computer GmbH, a training company for SAP applications.  Mr. Zielinski graduated with a law degree from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.
