August 2008

  • ICG will contribute to three sessions at the CASE Europe Annual Conference in Brighton from 25 to 29 August, including a session on What do Alumni Really Want? How Well do You Know Global Behavioural Trends?, a breakfast session on Success Strategies for Directors Managing International Alumni Relations Programmes - The Long Term View, and a session on The Online Community Agenda: How to Get the Most From the Web run by Ben Fitch (Oxford Brookes University). 
  • The Australian interviewved Dr. Daniel J Guhr, ICG's Managing Dierctor, on Learning Web 2.0, or Gen-Y Speak on 20 August.
  • ICG contributed to three events at the Education New Zealand Annual Conference in Auckland between 6 to 8 August, including a workshop on Web Best Practices, a session with the Ministry of Education on International Alumni Networks, and a session on High Growth Markets session together with Fiona Morris (JWT), Tim Rogers (IEC), and Scott Wade (LTM).

 

July 2008

  • ICG presented twice at the CASE Leadership Summit in New York on online community topcis in a session chaired by Christopher Thompson from CASE and co-speakers Andy Shaindlin from Caltech and Louis E. Alexander from MIT on Community and Affinity in an Online World.  ICG co-chaired a workshop with Christoper Thompson from CASE on Online Communities, Institutional Strategy and Advancement: What the Future Holds.
  • Three new Advisory Board members joined ICG: (1) Max Senges, a recent doctoral student at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Barcelona and now US-based knowledge entrepreneur joined ICG's Advisory Board.  (2) Andy Shaindlin, the Executive Director of the Caltech Alumni Association and author of the widely read blog www.alumnifutures.com.  (3) Lou Alexander, the Director of Alumni Education at the Massachusetts Intitute of Technology (MIT), and a frequent contributor to CASE and other international education conferences.
  • ICG released a comprehensively updated website (www.illuminategroup.com).

 

June 2008

  • Sabrina Dax, the Program Manager at the Harvard Center for European Studies in Berlin, joined as an ICG Consultant.  Laurel Bright, a Director with Ultimate Positioning in Brisbane, joined ICG's Advisory Board.

 

May 2008

  • ICG ran the Second Annual ICG Thought Leader Session on University Alliances at NAFSA in Washington, DC.  Alliances covered included IARU, the IDEA League, and Universitas21.  Presenters include Christopher Thompson from CASE, Christopher Tremewan from the University of Auckland, John Andersen from the University of Copenhagen, Piers Baker from Imperial College London, and Anders Hagstroem from the ETH Zurich.  Christopher Madden from Griffith University moderated the discussion session.

  • ICG presented at the Strategic Marketing of Higher Education Pacific Conference on Why Alumni Matter More Than Ever: Advancing the Institution Across all Dimensions.

 

March 2008

  • ICG presented at the APAIE Annual Conference in Tokyo on Best Practices in Higher Education Capacity Creation: Singapore and Dubai with representatives from the National University of Singapore and Dubai International Academic City.

 

February 2008

  • ICG chaired a session at the AIEA Annual Conference in Washington, DC, on Best Practices in Higher Education Capacity Creation: Dubai and Singapore with representatives from Nanyang Technological University and Dubai International Academic City.
